NADRA Marriage Registration from the US: A Comprehensive Guide

Registering your marriage with the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) from the United States involves several steps. Thorough preparation and adherence to the process are crucial for a smooth registration.

NADRA offers online services for overseas Pakistanis, enabling convenient ID card processing from home. Visit the NADRA website to initiate your application. Additionally, the NADRA desk at the Consulate General of Pakistan facilitates applications from overseas Pakistanis for the issuance of NICOP/CNIC/POC/FRC.

To apply for a NICOP certificate, gather the following documents: NICOP/CNIC/Manual NIC, Pakistani Passport and US Green Card/Legal Status or US Passport, Parents’ CNIC/NICOP, Siblings’ and Children’s NICOP/CNIC/CRC/POC (if applicable), Birth Certificate/CRC, SSC Certificate, Old Form B (mandatory for NICOP application for children), Spouse’s CNIC or NICOP (if married), Marriage Certificate. In case of divorce, a Divorce Certificate is required. Name change requires supporting documents.

You also need two verifiers with copies of their NICOP/CNIC and their contact numbers. Note that verifiers cannot be your parents, children, spouse, siblings, or immediate relatives. Bring a Credit or Debit Card (Mastercard or Visa) for fee payment. (Note: Inform your bank about the international transaction – the fee for NICOP will be paid to Alfalah Bank in Pakistan from New York). The Consulate General charges a separate processing fee of US$20 per application. Details about requirements can be found on the NADRA website.

For a Succession Certificate, the application must be initiated in Pakistan at a NADRA center by the legal heir by providing their CNIC/NICOP, death certificate and CNIC/NICOP of the deceased and an authority letter from all legal heirs to apply on their behalf. You need your NICOP/CNIC and the Succession application tracking ID.

For Family Registration Certificate (FRC) application, if applying with parents, the applicant’s passport and CNIC/NICOP are required along with parents’ and siblings’ CNIC/NICOP. If applying with a spouse, the applicant’s passport and CNIC/NICOP are required along with the spouse’s and children’s CNIC/NICOP. For children under 18, passport-sized photographs are needed.
