To participate in ACIC Basic, Advanced, or TAC training courses, you must be a current Criminal Justice Professional employed by a Law Enforcement Agency or Court. ACIC BASIC training is mandatory for all individuals operating ACIC access devices. This course consists of at least four hours of training on ACIC policies, procedures, and laws governing access and use of ACIC and CJIS data.
Upon completion of ACIC BASIC training, students are permitted to query ACIC information but are not authorized to add or modify information. It is mandatory that all students complete this training requirement within 60 days of their employment. ACIC Basic training will be available online after January 4, 2024.
You can register for training via Messenger or complete the Training Request Form and email it to the provided email address. Upon receipt of the registration form, ACIC will configure the new or transferring user. Once the user is configured, the TAC will receive an email from the ACIC Training Team confirming the user’s status and the steps to complete their training or access request.
For Advanced training, this is a mandatory requirement for all ACIC access device operators wanting to enter or modify data in the ACIC system. ACIC BASIC training is a prerequisite to register for this course. Also, there is a mandatory 30-day waiting period between the successful completion of ACIC BASIC training and scheduling ACIC Advanced training. The ACIC Advanced class consists of at least 32 hours of instruction.
Students who complete ACIC Advanced training are considered to have “full access” permitted to enter, modify, delete, and query data. The Terminal Agency Coordinator (TAC) class is designed for Terminal Agency Coordinators (TACs), however, those designated by their agency supervisor as an Assistant TAC are also encouraged to attend. This is a two (2:3) hour course designed to explain the roles and responsibilities of the Terminal Agency Coordinator position related to training, audits, and general ACIC functionality.
