Enroll at the Career Enrichment Center (CEC)

The Career Enrichment Center (CEC) follows the traditional Albuquerque Public Schools (APS) calendar. We begin the school year on the same day as the comprehensive high schools and observe the same holidays. The CEC semester ends one week earlier than the comprehensive high schools to avoid final exam schedule conflicts. If schools are delayed or canceled due to inclement weather, there will be no CEC classes held as there is no bus transportation provided for CEC students on these days.

Enrollment Process: Students interested in CEC classes need to complete the online Course Request Form located on the CEC Online Course Request page. CEC will review course requests to ensure students meet prerequisites and recommendations. Students will be notified of acceptance into CEC via email.

Transportation: All Albuquerque Public School students are provided free bus transportation from their zoned high school to and from CEC. Bus schedules are available on our website prior to the start of the school year.

Transcripts: Transcripts are not issued through CEC. Students may request transcripts from their high school and the transcript will reflect the final CEC grade for each course taken. Students attending a non-APS high school or APS Charter school should have their school email the CEC Registrar’s Office.

Textbooks: All textbooks are issued through the classroom teacher. A valid student ID is required to check out textbooks. Textbooks are the property of the State of New Mexico and are loaned to students with the expectation that they will be used properly, cared for, and returned in good condition. Students will be charged for lost or damaged books. All textbooks must be returned to the classroom teacher before the end of the school year. Students failing to return textbooks will be assessed a fee.

Withdrawal Policy: Students wishing to drop a CEC class MUST have their high school counselor complete the CEC online withdrawal form. Students withdrawing from CEC after the first 6 weeks will receive a W/F on their high school transcript. Withdrawal occurs only upon approval through the online form from the Counselor.

Grading Policy: A semester consists of two (2) nine-week grading periods. Semester grades are recorded on the student’s permanent academic record (transcript). The grading scale is defined as follows:

Percentage Letter Grade
90% – 100% A
80% – 89% B
70% – 79% C
60% – 69% D
0% – 59% F

Credit is granted for the successful completion of each class at the end of the semester. Credit is awarded with passing grades: A, B, C, or D. Credit is not awarded for F, I (Incomplete), N (No Credit) or W/F (Withdrawal with failing grade). Coursework must be completed by the end of the semester following the semester in which the I (Incomplete) grade is posted. If a grade is not assigned for the Incomplete by the following semester, an F will be assigned. If a course is repeated, the higher grade will be recorded and calculated in the student’s grade point average (GPA). However, the F remains on the transcript. Duplicate credit will not be granted for a repeated course. Students withdrawing from a course after ten days will receive a W/F on their transcript. Note: CNM and UNM grades will be posted at the end of the semester as midterm grades are not given. We do NOT have access to grades at CNM or UNM until posted on transcripts. Students will need to check with their instructor for grade feedback. The Nursing Program utilizes an alternate grading scale per National Regulations.

Academic Dishonesty: Each student is expected to maintain the highest standards of honesty and integrity in academic and professional matters. CEC reserves the right to take disciplinary action, including dismissal, against any student found to be academically dishonest or not meeting standards. Any student judged to have engaged in academic dishonesty may receive a reduced grade or failing grade on that assignment and/or for the course. Academic dishonesty includes, but is not limited to, cheating on tests, assignments; taking credit for work not done or work done by another and hindering the academic work of other students.
