The Union County Register Of Deeds completed a re-indexing project for all land records from January 1, 1984. This project encompassed all information in the office on public access terminals. On the internet, the data will be filtered similarly to current records.
To balance privacy with public access to data, the Union County Register of Deeds provides limited access to land records recorded in the office. Transfer documents such as deeds will be provided. Security instruments such as deeds of trust will not be provided. These records are considered to contain more sensitive information. Vital record index information will continue to be provided to users, with restrictions such as only the year being displayed and no parent information. Electronic recording continues to be strongly encouraged.
To ensure transparency and access to information, the Union County Register of Deeds has digitized and provided online access to some land records. This allows citizens to easily search for property information without having to visit the office in person.
