Register for the TEAS Exam: A Comprehensive Guide

Registering for the TEAS exam requires understanding your target school’s policies. This guide provides a step-by-step walkthrough to ensure a smooth TEAS registration process.

Your first step is to review the TEAS registration and testing policies of your prospective school. Each institution has specific regulations regarding TEAS registration and testing, so understanding your school’s requirements is crucial.

Some schools handle registration and payment directly through their websites. Others require you to register through the official ATI (Assessment Technologies Institute) website at www.atitesting.com.

Each school will outline specific guidelines regarding the exam, including the number of attempts allowed, mandatory wait times between attempts, and the minimum TEAS score required for admission consideration.

If your school requires you to register through ATI, there are four different options for taking the TEAS exam. Your school may dictate which option to choose, so be sure to review your school’s TEAS policies before registering.

Option 1: Take the TEAS at Home through ATI:

  • Location: Remotely at home.
  • Proctor: ATI proctors the exam.
  • Registration: You register and pay through ATI, selecting your test date and time. Note that all TEAS testing times at ATI are scheduled in Central Time. You will need to adjust for your specific time zone.
  • System Requirements: Your computer must meet these requirements.
  • Results: You are responsible for sending your results to your school. One free transcript is included in your registration fee.

Option 2: Take the TEAS Online at Home Proctoring by School:

  • Location: Remotely at home.
  • Proctor: Your school proctors the exam.
  • Registration: You register and pay through ATI, selecting your school, test date, and time.

If you are taking the TEAS exam remotely proctored (at home), there are specific system/computer requirements. Please review these system requirements before registering and paying for the exam.

Option 3: Take the TEAS In-Person at School:

  • Location: In-person at your school or a testing center.
  • Proctor: Your school proctors the exam.
  • Registration: Register and pay through ATI, selecting your school, test date, time, and location.

Option 4: Take the TEAS at PSI (Remote or In-Person):

  • Location: At a PSI testing center or remotely at home.
  • Proctor: PSI proctors the exam.
  • Registration: Pay for the exam through ATI, then schedule with PSI.
  • Results: You are responsible for sending your results to your school. You will receive one free transcript with your registration fee.

Things to Know for All TEAS Exams:

TEAS Transcripts and School Policies:

  1. Remote Exam Restrictions: Some schools do not accept transcripts from remotely (at home) proctored exams. Some schools only accept TEAS transcripts from exams taken in-person at their campus or designated location. Confirm your school’s policy before registering, as refunds are not provided and the exam will still count as an attempt.
  2. ATI TEAS Version 4 (IV): If you take the ATI TEAS Version 4 (IV), your score will only apply to the school where you took the exam. ATI TEAS Version 4 (IV) transcripts cannot be sent to other schools.
  3. Sending Scores to Multiple Schools: To send your TEAS results to multiple schools, you will need to purchase additional transcripts or credits.

TEAS Rescheduling Policy:

Your ability to reschedule your TEAS exam will vary depending on where you take the exam. Again, check with your school to understand their TEAS exam policies. If you register for the exam through ATI, you can reschedule your TEAS exam for a fee of $15. Some restrictions apply – please see our rescheduling policy for more information.
