National Pilates Certification Exam Registration

The National Pilates Certification Exam consists of 125 multiple-choice questions (100 scored). The exam is administered at testing centers worldwide and online – remote proctored (at home/office). Candidates are allowed 3 (three) hours to complete the exam and a passing score is 80. The exam fee is $295. If you test at a testing center outside the United States and Canada, the fee is $395.*

Please note: Testing at home/office is still a proctored exam. Candidates must strictly adhere to the testing company’s guidelines. Please verify technology compatibility beforehand; candidates are responsible for ensuring equipment compatibility and performing system checks prior to their exam date as registration fees are non-refundable.

The application is available on the NPCP website and must be accessed online. Apply when you are ready to take the exam as it is valid for 90 days (3 months).

Candidates will be required to create an account (if you already have an account, log in to continue) and provide the following information:

  • Full legal name as it appears on a current valid government-issued ID. Latin Alphabet accepted IDs: State-issued driver’s license, State-issued identification card, Government-issued passport, Passport card, Green card, Alien registration, Permanent Resident Card, National Identity Card, and Military ID card.
  • Address – City – State or Province – Postal Code
  • Name and email address of the Pilates Training School/Instructor.

Upon submitting the application:

  • Candidates will be required to select between going to a testing center or online – remote proctored exam.
  • Candidates will need to complete the payment to submit the application.
  • Candidates will be notified of their application status via email within 24 hours of submission.
  • Approved candidates will receive a link via email to schedule their exam. Be sure to check your junk/spam folder. Candidates can schedule their exam for a later date, but the exam must be completed within 3 months (90 days) of the application date.
  • Upon scheduling the exam date, candidates will receive a confirmation email containing the exam date, time and testing location address and instructions if applicable.

It is extremely important that candidates read the entire Candidate Handbook which is provided above and on the application page. Please note: Registration fees are non-refundable.

Rescheduling of the exam can be done.

Reasonable Adjustments are provided to candidates with any type of disability e.g., walking, talking, hearing, reading, performing manual tasks, etc. To apply for Reasonable Adjustments, candidates must submit documentation from a medical professional within the past 12 months on the professional’s letterhead. Documentation must reference the disability diagnosis and specific recommendations for accommodation. Reasonable Adjustments are considered based on the candidate’s request, disability, documentation submitted and the appropriateness of the request. Reasonable Adjustments do not include steps that fundamentally alter the purpose or nature of the examination.

Candidates review the Code of Conduct and Scope of Practice. Candidates who pass the National Pilates Certification Exam will be awarded the Nationally Certified Pilates Teacher (NCPT) designation. Candidates download the candidate handbook for more information.
