Can I Register My Car Online in Washington?

Registering a car in Washington can’t be done entirely online. However, you can use the Good To Go! service to pay for tolls online, making driving in Washington more convenient. A Good To Go! account allows you to save money on tolls and automate payments. You can create a new account or log in to your existing account on the MyGoodToGo.com website.

Good To Go! works on all toll roads in Washington, eliminating the hassle of receiving bills in the mail or slowing down at toll booths. Using Good To Go! offers several benefits, such as saving $2 per trip compared to paying by mail, no monthly fees, and no requirement to pre-pay tolls.

You can choose between two payment options: Pay By Mail and Pay As You Go. With the Pay By Mail option, you’ll need to load $30 when opening the account to pay for future toll usage. When your account balance is low, it will automatically reload via your credit card, or you can choose a specific day of the month to reload using an electronic check. With the Pay As You Go option, you don’t need a pre-paid balance, and tolls will be automatically charged to your credit card twice a month.

If you drive on a toll road without a Good To Go! account, the system will take a picture of your license plate and mail a bill to your vehicle’s registered address at the Department of Licensing. The toll rate when paying by mail will be $2 higher. We recommend against using third-party bill payment services as they may charge additional fees, delay payments, and make customer support difficult.

If you don’t receive a toll bill or lose it, you need to call customer service at 1-866-936-8246 to obtain a statement number. The representative will use your license plate and other identifying information to find your information in the system and assist you with payment, disputes, or provide the necessary information to process the bill online at MyGoodToGo.com. When paying by check, make it payable to Good To Go!, include the customer number on the statement or Civil Penalty Notice, and your license plate number if you don’t know your customer number.

Good To Go! offers four pass types: Pass, Flex Pass, Motorcycle Pass, and License Plate Pass. All passes help you pay the lowest toll rate on any toll road in Washington. Some passes are designed for specific customers, for example, the Flex Pass allows you to travel toll-free in the I-405 and SR 167 express toll lanes carpools when enough people are in the vehicle. You can still save money by paying through a Good To Go! account even without a pass, but you’ll be charged an extra 25 cents per trip.

You can purchase a pass online at MyGoodToGo.com, call the customer service center at 1-866-936-8246, or at select QFC and Fred Meyer stores in the area. Note that the Pass and Flex Pass are the only two Good To Go! pass types available at retail locations. If purchasing a pass from a retail store, remember to activate it before use. Installation instructions for each pass type are available on the website. For vehicles with specialized windshields, the License Plate Pass is a suitable option.

If you receive a toll bill, don’t ignore it. If you don’t pay your tolls by the original due date, you’ll be charged a $5 late fee. If you don’t pay within 80 days, you will receive a $40 Civil Penalty Notice for each unpaid toll and the Department of Licensing may place a hold on your vehicle registration. If you’ve received a Civil Penalty for unpaid tolls, you may be eligible for our Penalty Forgiveness program. Contact the Good To Go! customer service team to request a one-time waiver of all outstanding late fees and penalties. Note that you must pay all original toll amounts at the time of the request.
