Randolph County Register of Deeds: Recording & Protecting Your Documents

The Randolph County Register Of Deeds is responsible for recording and permanently preserving important documents, including deeds, mortgages, and liens. These records, dating back to 1820, establish legal ownership of real property.

Your Randolph County Register of Deeds records any document submitted for recording, provided it meets necessary requirements. These documents include Mortgages, Deeds, Liens, Military Discharges, Subdivision Plats, Contract Bonds, Powers of Attorney, Surveys, Affidavits, Federal Tax Liens, Mechanic’s Liens, and other Miscellaneous Documents. Documents are recorded to provide legally required public notice or for preservation and future reference. The Recorder also files Uniform Commercial Code fixture filings related to real estate.

Each document is scanned, indexed into a computer system, and microfilmed for archival purposes. The Recorder provides copies of any recorded document and certifies these copies upon request (fees apply for copies and certifications).

The elected office of County Recorder was the first office created by the Indiana State Constitution in 1816. The Randolph County Register of Deeds office is open to the public for business and searches: Monday – Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Closed on major holidays and election days.

For recording by electronic submission, the Randolph County Register of Deeds accepts E-Recording via CSI’s eRMCONNECT. Certified vendors are Simplefile CSC, Indecomm, and ePN. Effective April 1, 2021 and until further notice, the Recorder’s Office will not accept credit cards for payment.
