Are you eligible to vote in New Jersey? You can register to vote at the Motor Vehicle Commission (MVC) when applying for or renewing your driver’s license or non-driver ID. The MVC will report this information to the New Jersey Division of Elections.
The deadline to register to vote is 21 days before Election Day.
If you are not completing a driver’s license or non-driver ID transaction and wish to register to vote or change your address with the Division of Elections, please visit the New Jersey Division of Elections website at www.NJELECTIONS.org or call 1-877-NJVOTER (1-877-658-6837) to have a registration form mailed to you.
You can change your voter address by doing so online through the MVC website. After you change your address with the MVC, you will be asked if you would like the address change to update your voter registration record. Be sure to click “Yes” on the signature pad when answering this question and the MVC will send a notification to the Division of Elections, informing them of your change.

Your County Commissioner of Registration will notify you if your application is accepted. If it is not accepted, you will be informed of how to complete and/or correct the application.
Address changes reported online or through the mail with the MVC will be forwarded to the New Jersey Division of Elections. If you do not receive confirmation of the change, please contact your local Commissioner of Registration. A list of Commissioners can be found at nj.gov/state/elections/voting-information-local-officials.html.
If you wish to receive a driver’s license or non-driver ID displaying your new address, you must visit a Motor Vehicle Commission agency. You will be required to provide the 6 Points of ID verification requirements and pay a fee.
