Voter Registration in Washington State

There are 3 ways to register to vote in Washington.

Register to Vote Online in Washington

Visit the Secretary of State website Secretary of State website to register to vote online. This is the fastest and most convenient way to register.

Register to Vote In-Person in Washington

You can register to vote in person when conducting business at any driver licensing office driver licensing office. Residents aged 16 to 17 can pre-register before applying for a driver’s license or ID card.

Register to Vote by Mail in Washington

Complete a voter registration form voter registration form. You can use the last 4 digits of your Social Security number (SSN) if you do not have a Washington driver’s license or ID card.

Who is Eligible to Register to Vote in Washington?

You are eligible to register to vote if you are:

  • A U.S. citizen, and
  • A Washington resident, and
  • At least 18 years old by Election Day, and
  • Not currently serving a sentence of confinement in total confinement in jail or prison for a Washington felony, and
  • Not currently under the authority of the Department of Corrections for a Washington felony, and
  • Not currently incarcerated for a federal or out-of-state felony, and
  • Not disqualified from voting due to a court order.

Moving Within Washington? Update Your Voter Registration

If you move to a new address within the state, you need to update your voter registration before you can vote. Updating your registration when moving within Washington is crucial to ensure your right to vote.

Jury Duty Notification

The Office of the Secretary of State provides your name and mailing address to Washington state courts for potential jury selection.

We are required to ask if you would like to sign up with your email address as an additional way to receive jury duty notifications. You will still receive notifications by mail if you choose not to participate. Signing up will not increase your likelihood of being selected.
