Steps to Enroll in TSA PreCheck:
- Visit tsa.gov/precheck to learn more about the TSA PreCheck® Application Program. You can pre-enroll and schedule an appointment online or visit an enrollment center in person.
- To enroll in TSA PreCheck®, travelers must visit an enrollment center in person to provide fingerprints and required documentation.
- Applicants must pay a nonrefundable application fee of $85 to cover the cost of the background check.
- If approved, most applicants will receive a Known Traveler Number (KTN) within 3-5 days, though some applications can take up to 60 days. You will receive an email or phone notification with instructions on how to retrieve your KTN online. You may also check your application status online.
- Add your KTN to each participating airline profile or provide it when booking airline tickets. The name used when applying for TSA PreCheck® must match the name used when making travel reservations.

You must provide an original or certified* copy of identity/citizenship status documentation during enrollment and the name on all documents must match exactly the name provided on the application.
