You can register to vote online at olvr.ohiosos.gov. The online voter registration system allows users both to register to vote and update their voter registration address.

The website will ask you to provide information and documents such as your Ohio driver’s license or Ohio identification card number, date of birth, address and the last four digits of your Social Security number. Those who cannot provide this information should complete a voter registration update form to send to your county board of elections.

You can register to vote in person at boards of elections, public libraries and Bureau of Motor Vehicle locations. The Ohio Secretary of State’s website lists other locations also available for registration, including:
- The office of the Secretary of State
- The office of any of the 88 county boards of elections
- The office of the registrar or any deputy registrar of the Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles

There is a third option to register by mail. There is a National Mail Voter Registration Form available on the Ohio Secretary of State website. You can also request that your county board of elections or the Secretary of State’s office mail you a voter registration form.
When registering by mail, send your application to your county board of elections or the Secretary of State’s Office. According to the Secretary of State’s website, “your application must be postmarked by the voter registration deadline, the 30th day before the election, to be eligible to vote in that election.” In 2024, Sunday, Oct. 6 is 30 days before the Nov. 5 General Election.
