Texas Unemployment Benefits: Login & Registration

The Texas Workforce Commission’s (TWC) Unemployment Benefits Services (UBS) system allows you to manage your unemployment benefits online. Through ui.texasworkforce.org, you can file claims, estimate benefit amounts, update your profile, request payments, check your claim status, change payment methods, and more.

To access the UBS system, log in with your existing TWC User ID or create a new one at ui.texasworkforce.org. Registration requires providing personal information and creating a username and password. After registering, you can log in to manage your unemployment benefits.

If you’ve filed an unemployment claim, sign up for Electronic Correspondence to access related correspondence online. This allows you to receive most, but not all, notices and forms electronically in a secure online mailbox. Check your online mailbox regularly, regardless of email notifications.

After enrolling in Electronic Correspondence, you’ll receive most TWC correspondence electronically until you opt out. You must opt out to stop receiving documents electronically and return to paper mail.

View your claim status and payment information after logging in to your account at ui.texasworkforce.org. The system updates nightly, so check your claim status daily.

Unemployment benefits are taxable income and must be reported to the IRS. Report all benefits received on your federal tax return. You can choose to have federal income tax withheld from your unemployment payments. Withholding is voluntary. If selected, 10% of each payment will be withheld and sent to the IRS. You can change your withholding choice after logging in to ui.texasworkforce.org.

If you received unemployment benefits in the previous calendar year, you can view the total amount paid and any withholdings. To access your 1099-G information, log in to Unemployment Benefit Services and select IRS Tax Information from the Quick Links menu, or call Tele-Serv at 800-558-8321 and select Option 2.

TWC cannot pay you for the first week of your claim (the waiting week) until you return to full-time work or exhaust your benefits. If you return to full-time work before exhausting benefits, notify TWC to receive payment for that first week. Report your return to full-time work after logging in to the system at ui.texasworkforce.org.

An overpayment occurs when TWC pays you unemployment benefits that you’re later found ineligible to receive. Repay overpayments online with a debit card or electronic check via ui.texasworkforce.org. You can also pay by mailing a check or money order (payable to TWC).

If you can’t repay the full overpayment at once, contact the Benefit Overpayment Collections Department to request a payment plan.

If you didn’t file for unemployment benefits and receive TWC correspondence regarding an overpayment, report potential identity fraud.
